Great Danes

Ever After Great Danes

A Breeding Program for Therapy

Currently  no puppies available and no litters planned until sires and dams are health tested and of breeding age.
We believe our dogs are the total package, having both the looks and temperament a Great Dane should have. Our goal is to continually produce sound dogs that will excel in any venue from obedience to therapy dog work as well as a lifespan longer than the typical 8-9 years. We will take a lot of time with your puppy to get them used to the big world using various training methods such as the Rule of 7 and ENS - Early Neurological Stimulation & the “Von Falconer Way” until they are ready to go home with you, all of these methods are discussed on our Puppy Training page. By the time the puppy is ready to go home, they will have been started on house training, they will have been started on leash walking and coming when called, they will have been started on crate training. It is on the future puppy parent to keep up with these things and continue training. Mary is a certified dog trainer and is always happy and willing to help a puprent with any issues they may encounter with their Ever After Dane puppy. We breed for ourselves first and foremost. We will always have the right to keep the 1st pick of the litter. All of our breeding dogs will be with us for their entire lives. We may in the future have older pups available if our “pick” does not turn out how we want them to. We will keep the pups with us until they are 12 weeks of age. It is important they have this time to learn from their mom and littermates.

What we expect from a future Ever After puprent

  1. Ongoing training is a must under the guidance of a certified trainer in your area.
  2. That the pup be fed a high quality kibble or RAW diet that is age appropriate for the life of the puppy.
  3. The puppy will not be a yard ornament. Danes are very sensitive dogs and need a lot of time with their family. They are velcro dogs and do not thrive when left unattended for long periods of time. Tying your dane up out in the backyard to live is unacceptable. If we ever learn of one of our puppies being treated in this manner, we will invoke the rights of our contract and take the puppy back. We will not sell a puppy to be used as an outside guard dog.
  4. Crates, they should be used. Every dog should be able to accept going into a kennel. It will help them if they need to stay at the vet’s or be put in boarding. But the crate shouldn’t be used as punishment nor used as a babysitter. Your new puppy should not be spending the majority of its life in a kennel.
  5. If there are children in the house they are taught appropriate interactions. A child should not be allowed to stand or sit on a great dane. Yes they are giant dogs, no they should not be treated like mini ponies.
  6. That new puprents will remain in contact with us. We love to see updates on our furbabies and how they are doing in their new families. We will celebrate every milestone with you and cry over any losses as well.
  7. That the new puprent is well stocked on patience. These danes grow so fast it is sometimes easy to forget that that 75 pound dog is still just a baby and only a few months old.
  8. The new puprent should also be prepared to go through a lengthy interview process. These babies are our responsibility and we want only the best homes for them. We will be very picky about who we say yes to.
  9. Along with being kept on a high quality food, they are also given monthly preventatives for fleas and heartworms.
  10. We believe our puppies are the best of the best and their new families should be as well.

MEET OUR DANES

Our Danes come from our sister kennel Little Horse and were selected for their temperament and conformation. They are being raised on the homestead with plenty of space to exercise and play in and get to grow up around various breeds of animals such as poultry, pigs and mini horses.
